THE MONITORING SYSTEM

A good monitoring setup is critical to mastering. We use PMC IB1S 3-way midfield monitors. These transmission line monitors are flat from 25 Hz to 25kHz and extremely accurate and transparent.

The speakers are are tri-wired to a 500W/channel Proceed HPA 2 power amplifier. This amazing amp is made by the same company that produces the Mark Levinson monoblocks and shares similar sonic characteristics.
All digital sources in our mastering studio are routed through a single D/A converter for consistency when A/Bing material. Our D/A converter of choice is a Classé DAC 1 which uses a Pacific Microsonics filter and two UltraAnalog DACs per channel configured for true balanced operation.
Ahead of our D/A converter the digital audio signal passes through three stages of dejittering to ensure the highest possible fidelity. Firstly it goes through the PLL in the Meridian 518, then through the Weiss Clockwork, and finally through the dejittering stage of the Classé DAC 1.

The result is a clean, warm, engaging, dynamic, and above all ruthlessly accurate sound in the control room.
